Other than minor changes to the taillight and headlight designs, the Outback’s overall design and appearance are essentially unchanged. The Subaru Outback is a mid-size SUV that’s a bit quirky and adores its design.
The Subaru Outback is a large car in dimension. Although it may not be the most significant or most tall car, the Subaru Outback is 191.3 inches long. Santa Fe is 2.99 inches shorter than the Outback. The Outback is 0.4 inches more concise than the tallest Nissan Rogue (66.5 inches) and narrower by 1.8 inches in Santa Fe (74.8 inches). Interior Design

Base models have a 7.0-inch screen, while Premium trims and higher have an 11.6-inch touchscreen. The Limited XT trim adds navigation and comes with the same 11.6-inch touchscreen. The screens are disappointing in that the touch response is slow, and the menu has multiple layers to access the most basic functions. Subaru has removed the buttons and physical controls inside the cabin, so most functions can now be accessed via the touchscreen. It is a frustrating experience that Subaru must fix.

The Subaru Outback 2024 is equipped with a 2.5-liter flat-4 BOXER engine. To minimize rubber-band effects caused by CVTs, the flat-4 is mated to a CVT transmission that acts like an eight-speed gearbox. Subaru’s symmetrical AWD system channels 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque through the CVT gearbox. There is also a 2.4-liter turbocharged flat-4 BOXER turbocharged engine that produces 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.
Standard engine tows 2,700 lbs, while turbocharged engines can tow up 3,500 lbs. Although the combination of the standard engine and the CVT transmission gearbox won’t win any races, its seat accelerates from 0-60 mph to 60 mph in just 8.5 seconds. It can also cover the quarter-mile in 16.7 seconds. The turbocharged flat-4 is faster than the standard engine and has more power. It can also tow more. Turbo-four can go from 0-60 mph in just 6.3 seconds. We feel that both engines don’t realize their full potential because of the slow CVT gearbox.
All rivals have an inline-4 engine, except for the Kia Sportage, which has a 2.4-liter engine. All cars in this comparison have a 2.5 liter under their hood. FWD is the standard drivetrain on all rivals, while the Hyundai Santa Fe’s engine produces 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. The Nissan Rogue still has the fastest 0-60 mph time at 8.1 seconds.
